Report: Marshawn Lynch undecided about possible return to NFL
Retired NFL running back Marshawn Lynch may not have hung up his cleats for good. Mike Florio of NBC Sports reports that possibility of Lynch’s return is still “up in the air.”
Lynch announced his retirement during Super Bowl 50 and later confirmed his decision during a joint 60 Minutes/Sports Illustrated segment in June.
Lynch told SI’s Jon Wertheim that he would definitely not be returning to the field.
“No I'm done. I'm done,” Lynch said. “I enjoyed my time playing, now it's time to watch my cousins do their thing.
However, a source told NBC sports that we could be seeing Lynch in action again as soon as Week 4 or Week 5 of this season.
The Seattle Seahawks still hold Lynch’s rights after placing him on the reserve-retired list. If Lynch does make a to return to the NFL, the team would have to decide whether to place him back on the active roster, trade him, or cut him.
The Seahawks kick of the season against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
