Paxton Lynch makes his Broncos debut

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:03 p.m. ET

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Paxton Lynch is making his on-field debut for the Super Bowl champions, participating in the Denver Broncos' rookie minicamp before heading back to Memphis for graduation ceremonies this weekend.

The Broncos chose Lynch in the first round of the NFL draft last week. He'll compete with Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian.

General manager John Elway outmaneuvered Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to move up in a trade with Seattle to select the mobile Lynch, who's considered a potential franchise quarterback.

The Broncos found themselves in need of a passer after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler signed with Houston when free agency opened.
