WATCH: Terence Newman tells NFL referee he looks like Al Roker

Published Dec. 21, 2015 2:50 p.m. ET

During Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears at TCF Bank Stadium, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Terence Newman thought one of the NFL officials looked familiar. To him, line judge Tom Symonette looked a lot like TV personality Al Roker.

When there was a break in the action, Newman conferred with a few of the refs, including Symonette, and asked if the doppelgänger was accurate.

Via the Vikings' official Twitter account:

Symonette did not agree at all, and the other refs just laughed at Newman's comparison. As a 37-year-old veteran of the league, Newman probably knows a thing or two about getting on the good side of the officiating crew. This exchange seemed to do the trick.

Roker is best known as a weather forecaster. He has also written several books and made some acting appearances, but he has never officiated an NFL game.
