Jets waive former Patriot tight end, sign Steve Maneri

The New York Jets were not able to escape minicamp without a major injury to one of their players. On Monday, it was revealed that tight end Zach Sudfeld had torn his ACL after being hit by safety Calvin Pryor in a non-contact drill last week.

It seems as if Sudfeld wasn't the only Jets offensive player to feel the wrath of Pryor as he also had similar plays with tight end Jeff Cumberland and wide receiver Eric Decker.

As a result of Sudfeld's diagnosis, Sudfeld has been waived/injured. Sudfeld will be replaced on the roster by New Jersey native Steve Maneri.

Maneri played at Temple University in college before entering the NFL in 2010 as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans. He spent the next two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs before playing the 2013 season with the Chicago Bears. Last year, he played in one game for the New England Patriots.

In five seasons in the NFL, Maneri started 10 games where he caught a total of six passes for 52 yards.
