Jamaal Charles will be limited in Chiefs' OTAs

Published May. 19, 2016 2:09 p.m. ET

Jamaal Charles suffered a torn ACL in Week 5 of the 2015 season. At the beginning of the Chiefs' offseason program back in April, he told reporters that he wouldn't participate in organized team activities and that he was targeting training camp for his return.

But head coach Andy Reid now says (via Chiefs.com) Charles will be a limited participant in OTAs, the first of which takes place next week.

It's unclear when Charles will participate at this point, or just how limited he will be. The Chiefs have a total of 10 OTAs scheduled, so Charles may not participate right away. The final workouts are scheduled for June 7-10.

Charles, 29, rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the three seasons prior to 2015. He's entering his ninth NFL season and has played for Kansas City his entire career.
