Blazers Fall To Celtics After Isaiah Thomas’s Fourth Quarter

The game turned into a tale of two halves for the Blazers vs. Celtics. At one point, the Blazers had a comfortable 17 point lead and was coasting on offense. However, it was the Celtics stifling defense and some brilliant play from Isaiah Thomas that proved too much for Portland. In the end, it was Boston 120, Portland 111.

Damain Lillard and C.J. McCollum put in some solid offensive minutes, but their inability to convert three pointers down the stretch seemed to be the difference. The usually lethal shooting duo only converted two three’s for the game, with McCollum making zero.

A lot of this could have been the added pressure of missing Evan Turner in the lineup. His play making and ability to draw defenders gave our guards a little room to spot up and hit shots. However, with Turner sidelined for up to six weeks, expect more teams to swarm our guards and force them into tough shots.

Give credit where credit is due, and Thomas was unstoppable, especially in the fourth quarter. The Blazers threw every defender at him and the league’s leading fourth point scorer didn’t care. He didn’t care that Al-Farouq Aminu put in his best offensive game of the year. And he didn’t care whether Lillard, McCollum, Aminu or Maurice Harkless tried to check him on defense. He made Portland pay, and in the end that was the difference.

NEXT GAME: Atlanta vs. Portland , Monday Feb 13th at 7:30 inside the Moda Center.
