Coach K, Floyd Mayweather check in on Paul George in hospital

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 1:18 p.m. ET

The USA Basketball showcase ended in a terrible way on Friday evening, as Indiana Pacers forward Paul George suffered a serious leg injury and had to be carried off the court on a stretcher.

After the game, coach Mike Krzyzewski said that all other plans would be put on hold, and the team would seek to support its ailing teammate.

Krzyzewski has been right by George's side since the gruesome play. He visited George in the hospital and embraced the 24-year-old, as evident in the picture taken by former Duke star Jay Williams.

The legendary Duke coach wasn't the only person to comfort George after his injury, as boxer Floyd Mayweather also paid the Indiana Pacers star a visit on Saturday.

George is expected to miss 12 to 18 months after undergoing successful surgery to repair compound tibia and fibula fractures in his right leg.

That's certainly a sobering outlook for one of the NBA's best players, but at least he knows he has a strong support group at his side.
