Who knows what will come out of Marshall's mouth next? After declaring he and owner Pat Bowlen agreed it was time to trade the talented, diva-licious wideout out of town, now he appears to be planning on coming to camp in order to avoid the daily fines that go along with holdouts. Still, his situation is unpredictable and bears close attention. Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Anquan Boldin, Cardinals WR
This longstanding pay dispute appeared irreconcilable in the wake of the NFC title game, after which the perennial Pro Bowl WR caught heat publicly for skipping the immediate postgame locker room celebration. Boldin has been miffed for almost three years over his deal in the desert, and his angst only intensified after his WR buddy Larry Fitzgerald scored a $10 million-per-year salary before 2008. After once stating he could never trust the organization, a recent agent switch may be a sign that the ice is thawing, and Boldin (as of now) is expected to report on time. Thomas Jones, Jets RB
For a guy coming off a career year, Jones has been a regular "Debbie Downer" this offseason. First, he ripped outgoing teammate Brett Favre on New York radio for No. 4's late-season slide. But Jones has really miffed the front office by Jones-ing for more dollars, even at age 31 and with two years remaining on his current deal. Recent reports speculate that the Jets may be enticing him with a possible summer trade to get him to report. Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Leon Washington, Jets RB
Washington has done an excellent job as "Robin" to Thomas Jones' "Batman" act in New York, and reportedly wants a deal more in line with Maurice Jones-Drew's recent extension in Jacksonville (five years, $30.95 million) instead of the $535,000 he's set to make this season. While he's certainly outperformed his rookie contract, good luck getting MJD money (40 career TDs in three seasons for Jones-Drew, compared to 19 for Washington). Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Dunta Robinson CB & Owen Daniels TE, Texans
This could get interesting, as amidst a summer of hope in Houston, contract disputes could turn ugly with two key players. Daniels reportedly hopes to be the highest-paid TE in football or close to it and went so far as to boycott a mandatory OTA to make his point. Robinson has failed to sign Houston's franchise offer and appears far from thrilled with negotiations thus far. Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Andre Smith, Bengals OT
His mysterious early exit from the NFL combine in February and resulting agent switch before the draft raised plenty of eyebrows about Smith's judgment and maturity, but his stock was unaffected as the Bengals grabbed him at No. 6 overall. Now he's switched back to his original agent amidst rumors he may have used the first agent change as a sign of maturity. And with the hard-line Bengals, nobody knows what to expect in a possibly extended holdout. Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Barrett Ruud, Bucs LB
The Bucs' standout linebacker admitted publicly in June that he had held out of the team's "voluntary" OTAs in efforts to earn a raise from his $1.6 million-dollar salary. The team's leading tackler in each of the past two seasons, and now the undisputed leader in the middle of Tampa's defense with Derrick Brooks given his walking papers, Ruud told the Tampa Tribune he is considering a camp holdout unless progress on a new deal is made. Nick Collins, Packers S
The Packers' starting safety begrudgingly showed up to mandatory workouts in June after hinting strongly that he might stay away to make his point: That he deserves a new deal. He is due a tad over $3 million this season, his final one before he hits free agency in 2010 and especially with a potential labor war looming between players and owners, he'd like long-term security from Green Bay. Brian Waters, Chiefs G
The Chiefs' long-time guard has not been a happy camper this offseason. All the recent losing doesn't help, and neither do reports of an acrimonious meeting with new head coach Todd Haley, after which, Waters reportedly asked to be traded. The root of the problem, as always, is money, and since he's the best O-lineman in K.C. he can forget about getting quotes from moving companies. Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
Aaron Maybin, Bills DE
While not contentious so far, the Buffalo News has reported the Penn State rookie is an expected holdout but not due to an overly poisonous contract negotiations. Instead the late signing date is reportedly more due to the Bills' early camp opening date. The team kicks off camp on Saturday, July 25 and is the first full team to show up, thanks to Buffalo playing in the annual Hall of Fame Game just two weeks later. So don't panic up there in Buffalo, Bills fans. Adrian Hasenmayer Play free FOX Fantasy Football!
