In USC NFL news, three former Trojan star linemen Tyron Smith, Jurrell Casey and Everson Griffen were named to the 2017 Pro Bowl roster on Tuesday.

The 2017 Pro Bowl rosters were announced on Tuesday night, with three former USC players earning recognition as the best the NFL has to offer.

Cowboys offensive tackle Tyron Smith and Packers defensive end Everson Griffen were named to the NFL roster while Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey was placed on the AFC roster.

Smith, who is designated as a starter, is now a four-time Pro Bowler, with consecutive selections since 2013, his second year in the league.

Griffen was also named a starter for his second-straight Pro Bowl appearance. The same goes for Casey, who picked up his second selection though he was not named a starter, behind Geno Atkins and Ndamukong Suh.

With the trio of Trojans added, USC has now had alumni selected for the Pro Bowl 231 times.

Smith was a Morris Trophy winner at USC in 2010 before being selected ninth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Since joining the league with Dallas, Smith has forged a reputation as one of the NFL’s best tackles.

Casey was drafted the same year as Smith. His name was called in the third round by Tennessee after a stellar career with the Trojans. He was USC’s team MVP  and an All-Pac-10 first team player in 2010

Griffen left USC the year before his two Trojan counterparts, picked up by the Viking in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He led USC in sacks as a junior in 2009.
