Iowa expects slow season ticket sales

Published May. 12, 2015 2:44 p.m. ET

Attendance is down all around college football right now and the down turn might be hitting Iowa city soon.

Hawkeyes athletic director Gary Barta says he is expecting a downturn in season ticket sales according to The Gazette:

“We’re anticipating and conservatively preparing for a down tick there, Barta said. The reality there is we start selling single-game tickets. Depending on the weather, depending on success, that number could exceed last year’s number, you just have to rely more on weather and early success in order to sell those tickets rather than presell them all in July.”

Iowa should be able to make up the difference in revenue with the share of Big Ten Network revenue but this is just another reason why it's so important for Kirk Ferentz to lead a bounce back season.
