Hawkeyes offense struggles to find end zone in spring game

Typically during the spring, defenses are ahead of a team's offense. Iowa took that theory to the extreme on Saturday during their spring game. It took until almost five minutes left to go in the spring game for the Hawkeyes to get in the end zone but quarterback CJ Beathard doesn't seem to be too concerned via QC Times:

“You don’t want the day to end without a touchdown, the Hawkeyes’ junior quarterback said. We had some decent drives, moved the ball a bit, but it felt good to get the ball into the end zone. That’s the idea, but we know we’ve got some work to do, though.’

Coach Ferentz echoed the patience of his quarterback:

“I think we’re at a point 15 practices in where the defense probably knows our offense better than our offense does because they’ve worked against it all spring. That’s nothing unusual or nothing to be alarmed about. Our defensive line had a good spring as a group. I’m more concerned about the fundamental things, ball security and such, that we need to clean up.

The Iowa offense has time to fix things but bumps in the road are to be expected as they get used to new quarterback CJ Beathard and break in new starters on the offensive line.
