ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) The Detroit Lions have signed free agent tight end Andrew Quarless, who is facing a two-game suspension to start the season.

Quarless has been suspended two games for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He is eligible to participate in preseason games. Quarless was sentenced to a year of probation and fined $1,000 for firing a gun in Miami Beach, Florida, last year.

Lions general manager Bob Quinn said in a statement Monday he is aware of the upcoming suspension, and that the team has talked with Quarless about the incident that caused it.

The Lions also announced that they have signed linebacker Dominique Tovell, waived tight end Ben McCord and put wide receiver Andre Caldwell on injured reserve.
