Game Ball is a new weekly series that awards a “game ball” to the player of the game for the Oakland Raiders. Only one player will be chosen, and this one is for Week 3 against the Titans.
Awarding a game ball to a player, coach, or anyone deserving is a long-standing tradition in the NFL. And that is what serves as the inspiration for this new weekly series.
Some games, many players may be deserving to be recognized as the player of the game — while some games, maybe only a couple of players are deserving. No matter what, there is always at least one person who stands out above the rest.
In Week 3, that player was David Amerson.
In a similarly dominant performance as he had last year against Tennessee, Amerson once again shined in a matchup with the Titans. However, he took his performance to another level in this most recent contest.
Here is a rundown of Amerson’s day, per Pro Football Focus:
PFF awarded Amerson a grade of 97.9, highest of any player at any position in Week 3. Not too shabby.
And for those who aren’t fans of PFF, you don’t need them to tell you how good Amerson was on Sunday. Just look at the film.

After being literally one of the worst cornerbacks in the entire league, the transformation that Amerson has made is truly incredible.
PFF has him as their #1 cornerback through three weeks, and they might not be wrong about that.
