Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 3: WR Brandon Marshall
When it comes to Week 3 of Fantasy Football, wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets is a safe sit due to his questionable status for their Sunday matchup in Kansas City.
Last week, wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets left their game against the Buffalo Bills with an apparent knee injury. Unsurprisingly, Marshall returned to the field and had a big game in which he recorded 101 yards on six receptions. His fantasy football value this week is very low due to his injury.
While his return to the field was a great sign for the Jets, the veteran wide-out has yet to practice since their Thursday night victory. According to the Media Relations Department of the Jets, Marshall is still not back at practice and was spotted on the practice field on Wednesday. But only took part in team stretching exercises which indicated he would be sitting out yet another practice.

He caught passes from a jugs machine but when the time came for individual drills, Marshall was seen in the rehab area on a bike. His knee injury is an apparent sprained MCL, however, the stability of the joint is apparently sound, indicating its not a serious threat.
The Jets are facing the 1-1 Kansas City Chiefs on the road this Sunday. The Chiefs’ defense is not a top-10 defense. Throughout the first two weeks of the season, their defense ranks in between 16th-30th best in all defensive categories.

They’re 17th in points allowed per game with 23, 17th in yards allowed with 369.5, 16th in passing yards allowed with 243.5, and 30th in rushing yards allowed per game with 126.
I would be surprised if Marshall did not play this Sunday.
This is a receiver who played in all 16 games for the Jets last season while battling injuries.
So if Marshall is indeed declared active for Week 3, he could serve as a FLEX option.
Eric Decker, Quincy Enunwa, and even Jalin Marshall should all see an increased amount of targets this Sunday due to Marshall’s knee sprain. If the veteran receiver is declared active, he’ll likely see plenty of coverage from second-year cornerback Marcus Peters, who recorded two interceptions during their Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans. He led the NFL in interceptions his rookie season with 8.
Marshall will be pushing hard for the medical staff to clear him for Sunday. My fear is that he’ll rush his return for Week 3 and quite possibly make the injury worse than it already is. I’ll be stashing him on my bench this week as I expect Decker, Enunwa, and possibly Marshall to receive the majority of targets while he rehabs his sprained MCL.
