Dak Prescott named Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback

Dak Prescott is the Cowboys’ new starting quarterback.

The Philadelphia Eagles will not have to worry about Tony Romo for a while. After breaking a bone in his back against the Seattle Seahawks last week, Romo will be out 6-10 weeks, opening the door for rookie quarterback Dak Prescott to be the guy for the Dallas Cowboys.

Better watch out!

Prescott has looked good this preseason. In three games, Prescott has completed 39 of 50 attempts for 454 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also run for 53 yards on seven attempts for two touchdowns.

Pretty impressive. But let’s remember one thing:

It’s preseason.

While Prescott has admittedly looked good, the regular season is a completely different monster compared to the preseason, where he has regularly faced off against opposing team’s second team defenses.

Prescott, drafted in the fourth round (135th overall) of this year’s draft, is already being lauded as the next Russell Wilson or, even worse, Tom Brady (!), which is absolutely ludicrous. Make no mistake about it, Prescott has looked impressive, but he still has a lot to prove until he can be considered anything other than Romo’s backup.
