LAS VEGAS -- Martin Truex Jr. jumped back to the top of the leaderboard in Saturday’s final Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice for this Sunday’s Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Kobalt 400 will be televised live on FOX, with pre-race coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Truex was fastest in Friday’s first practice for the race, and again in Happy Hour on a sunny afternoon at the 1.5-mile track on Saturday. He turned his fastest lap at 188.613 miles per hour, edging Chase Elliott, who had been fastest in Saturday’s morning practice session.

"We haven't unlocked the key yet," Truex said. "I think we've figured out the short-run speed. Now we have to figure out the long-run speed, and get the balance between the two right for the race."

Elliott (188.574 mph), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (188.436 mph), Matt Kenseth (188.258 mph) and pole-sitter Brad Keselowski (188.140 mph) rounded out the top five on the Happy Hour speed chart.

Keselowski, the defending race winner, will start from the pole after being fastest in Friday qualifying. Truex was second-fastest in qualifying and will start alongside Keselowski on the front row Sunday.

With a little over 10 minutes left in Happy Hour, the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hit the wall and pancaked the right side of his car, requiring his team to go to a backup bar that will require him to start from the rear of the 39-car field on Sunday.

Stenhouse had previously qualified to start 29th.

“I’m not really worried about going to a backup car to start the race. We were already near the back anyway,” Stenhouse told FOX Sports.
