Fans say NASCAR 'made right call' in limiting drivers from lower series

The results are in.

Almost half of the 10,000 visitors to our poll yesterday voted that it's the 'right call' by NASCAR to limit Premier Series drivers from competing in the XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series.

We had a feeling this would be the response after fans have been frustrated by Sprint Cup regulars, *cough* Kyle Busch, from dominating in the XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series.

Following up the 48 percent who said NASCAR made the right call were 39 percent of fans who voted that NASCAR needs to do more regarding this in the future.

Only 10 percent thought that this was a bad move by NASCAR, while three percent voted that NASCAR shouldn't have gone as far as they did with the restrictions.

In case you haven't seen the details, here's the breakdown.

NASCAR announced Wednesday that it will limit the number of events a Premier Series driver can enter in the lower tier series, starting with the 2017 season.

In a release, NASCAR said that it hopes this will "put an even brighter spotlight on the next generation of stars and bolster the identity of all three of its national series."

Premier Series drivers -- what is currently the Sprint Cup Series -- with more than five years of full-time experience will be eligible to compete in a maximum of 10 races in the XFINITY Series and seven in the Truck Series.

Also, those same drivers with more than five years of full-time experience won't be eligible to compete in the Chase races for either the XFINITY or Truck Series or any special events, such as the Dash 4 Cash races in the XFINITY Series.
