ST. LOUIS -- The Blues have signed defenseman Jake Walman, a third-round draft pick (82nd overall) in 2014, to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Walman, 21, had seven goals, 18 assists and 42 penalty minutes in 39 regular-season games with Providence College this season, his third with the Friars. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman was named to the Hockey East First All-Star Team. He helped the Friars capture the 2015 NCAA championship as a freshman.

Prior to his collegiate career, Walman spent one season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (2013-14) of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he recorded 33 points (seven goals, 26 assists) in 43 games and was named the OJHL Rookie of the Year.
