Report: NBA Draft prospect Randle likely will need foot surgery

Published Jun. 12, 2014 10:46 a.m. ET

Former University of Kentucky power forward Julius Randle likely will need surgery on his right foot following the NBA Draft later this month, FOX Sports 1/Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Randle, who is expected to be a top 10 pick, originally injured the foot during his senior season in Texas two years ago. Randle had a screw inserted in the foot, but the screw needs to be removed because the injury didn'€™t heal properly, Wojnarowski reports.

Randle is expected to miss six to eight weeks if he undergoes the procedure, forcing him to miss the rookie summer league in July. Randle is expected to be cleared to play by the start of training camp, according to the report.

"He could drop some in the first round, but I don'€™t think it will be because of the injury," an Eastern Conference official told Wojnarowski.

Randle was voted the SEC'€™s Rookie of the Year after averaging 15 points and 10.4 rebounds in his only season with the Wildcats.
