Here we go through another preseason doozie. What should we expect from the Memphis Grizzlies tonight? Who are some players to watch for?

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Philadephia 76ers

Tonight is the Memphis Grizzlies’ third preseason game. I know everyone is ready for the regular season to start, but tonight’s contest should be more interesting than most games October has to offer.

Both of these teams should be looking to play their young guys. For the Memphis Grizzlies, don’t be surprised if you see their roster hopefuls receive more playing time.

What to expect

Last season, D.J. Stephens broke the internet with numerous dunks in the D-League. Now, he is doing the same on a bigger scene.

Recently, Twitter is buzzing off this pre-game dunk.

Many fans are hoping that the Memphis Grizzlies take a flyer on their hometown hero. Tonight, expect D.J. Stephens to bust out more highlight reel plays, while proving why he should be on the roster.

More Wade Baldwin IV

The Memphis Grizzlies’ first-round pick is already making a name for himself among fans.

In two preseason outings, Wade Baldwin is 6-for-11 from the field (1-for-1 from 3), has 8 assists–opposed to 6 turnovers–and 22 points.

Look for Baldwin to come out hot tonight after his 1-for-6 display against Atlanta. 

The Memphis Grizzlies have found their backup point guard in Wade Baldwin. Hopefully, he flashes more of those “Little Westbrook” comparisons.

Sloppy Play

Of course, preseason basketball is not glamorous. Lots of players are shaking off rust. Teams are playing guys who will end up in the D-League or overseas.

Don’t expect a high-octane game from the Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers. With most of the starters receiving little minutes tonight, many fans will be wishing for regular season basketball.

Players to watch

The Memphis Grizzlies’ second-round pick is back in training camp after dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Even though he just returned, it may not be a surprise to see 5-10 minutes from Davis.

Many fans are excited to see Davis in action, expecting him to be the big man of the future.

With the hot play from Wade Baldwin, Harrison’s chances as the backup point guard look blurry. Because of Troy Williams and D.J. Stephens’ hot play, Harrison may have to fight for his roster spot.

After his 0-for-5 and one assist (and two turnover) showing vs. Atlanta, Harrison must show that he deserves a roster spot. If he doesn’t come out fighting tonight, he may see his run with the Memphis Grizzlies come to an end.

After two years of dealing with foot issues, the Sixers prodigy Joel Embiid is back on the scene, looking to prove that he is a rising dominant force.

While young big men like Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porzingis are taking the NBA by storm, Joel Embiid seemed to have be forgotten.

Tonight, he will have some opportunities to challenge All-NBA center and former Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol. We should see plenty of flashes of his brilliance tonight.

Conley may not get a lot of playing time tonight; however, let’s hope the birthday boy gets to toy around a bit.
