9-year-old ‘Hawks fan nails shot contest after kicking cancer’s butt
Patrick Kane’s 26-game scoring streak came to an end Tuesday night, in part because teammates weren’t able to put some beautiful passes into the net in the eventual 3-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Perhaps he should have passed to Madison Dempsey. The 9-year-old proved she has a hell of a slap shot … just ask cancer.
Madison took part in the Blackhawks’ “Shoot the Puck” contest at the United Center on Tuesday night between the second and third periods. For those not familiar, a contestant lines up at the blue line and takes three shots at three small holes cut into cardboard blocking the goal. Check out Madison’s third shot:
For some contests, if a fan makes one of the shots they get a shot at a different cut-out with a bigger prize on the line. Check out the 1-minute mark of the video at this link to see how close she came to nailing that one, too:

According to Comcast Blackhawks reporter Luke Stuckmeyer, Madison has been cancer-free for five years.
No word on what Madison won for her efforts, but safe to say even with Kane failing to score, every fan in attendance went home a winner.
