Ronda Rousey returns for face-off with Amanda Nunes before storming off stage

NEW YORK — Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at the UFC 205 weigh-ins on Friday where she came face-to-face with women's champion Amanda Nunes for the first time.

Rousey will face Nunes for the bantamweight title at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 as she gets back in action for the first time in over a year after suffering a brutal head kick knockout to Holly Holm.

Last week, Rousey told Ellen DeGeneres that her fight against Nunes was one of the last times she would be stepping into the Octagon, but it certainly appeared on Friday like she had the same fire that made her the longest reigning women's champion in UFC history.

Following the conclusion of the UFC 205 weigh-ins, Rousey and Nunes came on the stage to stare down before meeting in just about six weeks time in Las Vegas.

Rousey had her signature grimace as she faced off with Nunes in front of a loud and raucous crowd inside Madison Square Garden in New York.

After the stare down was completed, the fighters were separated and UFC commentator Joe Rogan spoke to Nunes about her thoughts on the matchup.

"I've been training for this girl my whole career in the UFC," Nunes said. "Now I have the chance to defend my belt against her. It's going to be amazing."

As for Rousey, UFC president Dana White tried to hold her on stage but the former women's champion shrugged him off and stormed off without saying a word.

Perhaps that was just the intensity Rousey was showing after facing off with an opponent for the first time in a year or maybe she's just doesn't want to address the world and instead plans to do so inside the Octagon on Dec. 30.
