Alligator interrupts Wild players' golf outing

Published Feb. 3, 2016 9:50 a.m. ET

Although the Minnesota Wild's offense has lacked a bit of bite, an uninvited guest thankfully didn't provide one of his own during forward Nino Niederreiter's recent trip to Cancun, Mexico.

Niederreiter joined defensemen Marco Scandella and Matt Dumba as well as goaltender Darcy Kuemper for what was intended to be a relaxing day on the links. The quartet wasn't alone, however, as an alligator emerged from the water to gain a closer view of the action.

Undeterred, Niederreiter and his mates posed for a picture before quickly escaping with all of their limbs. Via Minneapolis Star Tribune:

"(The alligator) was probably three or four feet away with his mouth open the whole time looking at us. So we took a quick pic and got out of there. It was neat to see them ... in action, I guess."

Niederreiter and the Wild got back to action as well, with the former collecting a goal and an assist in the team's 5-3 setback to the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
