Bastian Schweinsteiger couldn’t have scripted a better start to his Major League Soccer career. After months of toiling away on the fringes (at best) of Manchester United’s first team, he’s back on the pitch.
Even better than just being back, he’s scoring, too.
That’s about as professional as a header gets. Schweini is certainly elated to open his account, but look at how stoked the crowd is. Look at how pumped his teammates are! Just about every Fire player swarmed the German import to celebrate his goal.
To think, there were questions about whether or not Schweinsteiger would even start against the Montreal Impact on Saturday. He’d just been introduced at a press conference earlier in the week, and his match fitness was questionable at best. Plus, with limited time on the training pitch with his teammates, how quickly would he be able to gel with the Fire?
As it turns out, pretty darn quickly. Next stop, World Cup?
