New York Jets Still Respect Ndamukong Suh

The New York Jets will be facing the Miami Dolphins and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Do the Jets still respect the once feared lineman?

Sunday will be a very important game for the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Due to poor starts to the season, both need to earn wins in order to keep their seasons alive. For the Dolphins, their disappointments go back to last season.

After what looked like a great offseason on paper last year, the Dolphins really struggled in 2015. One of their big signings was Ndamukong Suh. The Dolphins made Suh one of the highest paid players in the NFL, but his stats haven’t backed that up.

Due to the drop in his statistics since joining the Dolphins, many believe that Suh isn’t the same player that he was with the Lions. However, Jets head coach Todd Bowles sees the same dominant force when he watches film on Suh.

“I don’t think he has changed at all,” Jets head coach Todd Bowles said to Connor Hughes of NJ.com.

Bowles wasn’t the only person on the Jets that still respects Suh, as running back Matt Forte also sees a great player when he watches the film.

“If you watch the film, he shows up all over the place,” said running back Matt Forte, who played in the same division as Suh. “He’s still a great player and a force on the inside of that defense.”You can’t take someone like that lightly because of his lack of stats,” Forte said to Hughes.”

The Dolphins run defense has struggled as a whole this season, as Forte will be in position for a good game. The past two weeks, the Jets have been giving the ball to Forte a lot, and that has been a recipe for success this season.

“A guy like him, I know he’s driven to be the best at his position,” Forte said to Hughes. “It doesn’t matter what the numbers look like. I know his mindset. A guy like that, just because he gets national criticism because of the numbers, it doesn’t matter.

The Jets are likely going to be without center Nick Mangold yet again this week. Having Mangold out against Suh could be a huge problem for the Jets if they aren’t careful. Unlike some people, the Jets appear to still respect Suh, and they know he could be a factor on Sunday.
