Bulls suspend Rajon Rondo one game for conduct detrimental to the team

Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo won’t be on the floor Monday night when the Bulls host the Portland Trail Blazers because he’s been suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

The Bulls made that announcement Monday morning, two days after Rondo had one of his worst games of the season in a loss to the Mavericks and three days after he had his best game of the season in a win over the Cavaliers.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Rondo had a loud exchange with assistant coach Jim Boylen after the loss to the Mavericks and that he apologized Sunday to both the coaching staff and his teammates.

Rondo, who signed a two-year, $28 million deal with the Bulls in the offseason, had his first triple-double with Chicago on Friday night and then went for just two rebounds, two points and two assists with five turnovers the next night against the Mavericks. He’s averaging 8.2 points, 11.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds for the revamped Bulls, who rank fourth in the Eastern Conference with an 11-8 record after missing the playoffs last season.
