Red Bull shows RB13 images in online launch

Published Feb. 26, 2017 11:34 a.m. ET

Red Bull became the last major team to reveal its 2017 contender when it showed images of the RB13 online Sunday afternoon, ahead of Monday’s first full day of testing in Barcelona.

The team has emphasized the bad luck associated with the type number by revealing the car on social media at 13:13 European time, and saying “stroke that rabbit’s foot, grab that four-leaf clover, fling that horseshoe” in its announcement.

The car has very clean lines but is not necessarily showing all the aerodynamic appendages that will run on track. Its most notably feature is the nose, which has a hole whose exact aerodynamic purpose is not yet clear, while like other cars it has a shark fin on its engine cover.

It carries Esso and Mobil logos after ExxonMobil jumped ship from long time partner McLaren.

Meanwhile, the McLaren MCL32 took its first laps in a filming day at Barcelona Sunday morning, with Fernando Alonso at the wheel.
