Cardinals recall Sierra with Gyorko on paternity leave
ST. LOUIS — Magneuris Sierra is back with the big boys, thanks to Jedd Gyorko's little girl.
The Cardinals recalled Sierra from Double-A Springfield on Friday, and he was immediately inserted in the Cardinals' starting lineup against the Cubs. The 21-year-old outfielder temporarily takes the roster spot of Gyorko, whose daughter, Brooklyn Ellee, was born Tuesday.

Gyorko, who took Tuesday off for Brooklyn's birth, is expected to miss the Friday and Saturday games at Wrigley Field. Major League Baseball allows players to take up to three days of paternity leave.
Sierra dazzled in his debut with the Cardinals in early May after uncharacteristically being recalled from High-A Palm Beach. Sierra had 11 hits in seven games with the Cardinals, racking up a .367 batting average. Sierra also contributed in a big way on the basepaths, scoring eight runs and adding a stolen base.
