Almonor scores 24 as Fairleigh Dickinson takes down Stonehill 76-69

SOUTH EASTON, Mass (AP) — Ansley Almonor's 24 points helped Fairleigh Dickinson defeat Stonehill 76-69 on Friday night.

Almonor also had seven rebounds for the Knights (9-11, 3-2 Northeast Conference). Terrence Brown added 15 points while shooting 7 for 14, including 1 for 5 from beyond the arc, and they also had seven rebounds. Sean Moore was 5 of 13 shooting, including 1 for 6 from 3-point range, and went 2 for 3 from the line to finish with 13 points.

The Skyhawks (2-18, 0-5) were led in scoring by Jackson Benigni, who finished with 27 points and three steals. Max Zegarowski added 19 points and eight rebounds for Stonehill. Pano Pavlidis also put up nine points. The Skyhawks extended their losing streak to seven in a row.

Fairleigh Dickinson led Stonehill at the half, 35-34, with Almonor (10 points) its high scorer before the break. Fairleigh Dickinson turned a one-point second-half lead into a nine-point advantage with an 8-0 run to make it a 49-40 lead with 14:38 left in the half. Almonor scored 14 second-half points in the victory.

Up next for Fairleigh Dickinson is a matchup Thursday with Cent. Conn. St. at home. Stonehill visits Merrimack on Sunday.
