Clemson's Swinney voted ACC Coach of the Year
Looks like Dabo Swinney has another reason to dance. On Tuesday, the Clemson head coach was voted the ACC Coach of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).
Swinney, who has been the head coach of the Tigers since 2008, has led No. 1 Clemson to an undefeated regular season record (12-0) and an Atlantic Division championship. Clemson has also been the No. 1 team in every College Football Playoff poll so far this year, and will make the playoffs if it can beat No. 14 North Carolina (11-1) in the ACC championship game on Saturday.
“It’s really special," Swinney told ACC.com said when asked to reflect on the Tigers’ perfect regular season. “I think everybody should take time to embrace that from a Clemson standpoint. We certainly have tried to do that."
Swinney received 27 votes of the 50 votes cast by the ACSMA. North Carolina’s Larry Fedora placed second with 21 votes.
Clemson currently owns the nation’s longest active winning streak at 15 games, which is also a school record. In the last four years, Swinney has posted a 44-7 record, which is the best in school history during any four-year stretch. Overall, Swinney has a 73-26 record at Clemson.
