Dillon Newton-Short - Unavailable again, probable for Week 3 Newton-Short (hamstring) is out for Friday's game against Norfolk State but is expected to play against West Virginia on Sept. 19, Mike Barber of Cville Right Now reports.
Impact The benefit of a bye will not give Newton-Short enough time to recover before Virginia's next game. However, he is projected to become available when the Cavaliers return to FBS action in Week 3, giving him a legitimate opponent to prepare for upon his availability.

Impact Pribula, making his debut for his third college team in the past four seasons, ingratiated himself to his teammates, while gaining a throng of new fans after his impressive dual-threat effort. He was easily the most exciting offensive player on the field for both sides, cracking the century mark in rushing yardage, easily setting a new career high in the category. His previous best was 78 rushing yards at Arkansas in his final game for Mizzou on Nov. 29, 2025.

Impact A lingering hamstring injury has rendered Flores out for what would have been his Virginia debut against an ACC team. He is easily one of the Cavaliers' most proven wideouts, having logged at least 12 receptions and 150 receiving yards in each of his underclassman seasons between Notre Dame and UCLA.
