Impact Werts is electing to spend his sixth and final year of eligibility at Louisville after transferring into the program from Georgia Southern over the winter. During his five-year stint with the Eagles, Werts played exclusively at quarterback, serving as a four-year starter while completing 57 percent of his passes for 7.4 yards and a 34:12 TD:INT to go with 3,083 rushing yards and 34 scores on the ground. Despite Werts' wealth of experience behind center, Louisville doesn't look like it will give him an extended look at quarterback with returnees Malik Cunningham and Evan Conley currently sitting atop the depth chart and Nebraska transfer Luke McCaffrey also in the fold. Werts' speed and athleticism should allow him to carve out a role at receiver after the Cardinals lost their top two contributors at the position in Tutu Atwell and Dez Fitzpatrick to the 2021 NFL Draft.
