College Football Offseason Buzz: Philip Rivers' Son Commits to NC State

Tad Hudson - Headed to NCSU Hudson is headed to North Carolina State, Matthew Bradham of PackInsider.com reports.

Impact Currently part of Coastal Carolina, Hudson will transfer colleges. During the 2025 Chanticleers' season, he logged 139 completed passes for 1,253 yards and six touchdowns. Considering that North Carolina State's room includes much more proven quarterback CJ Bailey, Hudson will not be QB1 unless his new teammate becomes unavailable.

Impact Trader entered the portal after spending his freshman and sophomore seasons at Miami. In 2025, he caught 13 of his 23 targets for 178 yards and a touchdown. A highly touted recruit coming out of high school, Trader will have significant competition for a starting role with NC State.

Impact Ploog didn't appear in a game as a freshman with Oregon. The 6-foot-6, 242-pound tight end will have four years of eligibility remaining at NC State.

Davion Dozier - Signs with NC State Dozier will transfer to NC State, per Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com.

Impact Dozier transferred to Appalachian State after two quiet seasons at Arkansas, and he broke out in 2025 with 20 grabs for 448 yards and five touchdowns. He excelled as a big-play threat, averaging 22.4 yards per catch. He figures to have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Wolfpack, where he'll look to earn a starting role immediately.

Impact Joly will focus on draft preparations after finishing his fourth collegiate season. The senior tight end enjoyed a productive career , totaling 166 receptions for 1,978 yards and 15 touchdowns between his two teams, UConn and NC State. He currently projects as a Day 2 or early Day 3 pick and will have the draft process to help increase his stock.

Impact Provience will head to the FBS level after catching 11 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown for Montana State -- the FCS national champions. While Provience is more of a blocking tight end, NC State's offense has been friendly to the TE position, as Justin Joly, who graduated after 2025, has thrived in recent years.

Jayden Scott - Posts 100-yard game Scott notched 19 rushes for 108 yards and reeled in 0 of 2 targets for zero yards during Friday's 31-7 victory against Memphis.

Impact Scott posted his second career game with 100+ rushing yards as the Wolfpack took down the Tigers in the Gasparilla Bowl. The 5-foot-10 redshirt freshman will finish his first season as a key piece of NC State's offense with 595 yards and four touchdowns on 106 carries (5.6 YPA). Scott was also a weapon in the receiving game, hauling in 15 receptions for 132 yards through the air. Scott and the Wolfpack will look to build off of a productive 2025-26 season this offseason.
