The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team rebounded from last weekend's sweep at the hands of Penn State, outlasting the Michigan Wolverines for a 5-2 win in the first game of 'White Out Weekend' at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.

Trent Frederic scored the game-winning goal in the third period with his second tally of the night. Jarod Zirbel added some insurance with his first of the season and Seamus Malone quickly followed with further padding.

Cameron Hughes also lit the lamp for the Badgers.

Junior defenseman Jake Linhart extended his point streak to a career-high six games with an assist on Frederic's game-opening goal in the first period. Linhart leads Badgers defensemen with 18 points in 27 games (4 goals, 14 assists). Frederic has points in five consecutive games (5 goals, 8 assists).

The Wolverines' Cooper Marody scored a power play goal in the second period against a Badgers penalty kill that ranks third in the nation and Evan Allen tied the game in the third period with his third goal of the season.

Badgers freshman goaltender Jack Berry made 25 saves in the win.

UW scoring leader Luke Kunin's goal streak ended at four games, though he earned two points on assists to reach 31 points on the season. Kunin remains just one goal away from becoming the first Badger to reach 20 goals since Michael Mersch scored 22 times during the 2013–14 season.

The teams match up again Saturday night at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Wisconsin.
