Gators defensive line hit hard by injuries

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- No. 8 Florida will be without three defensive linemen, including starting end Alex McCalister, against Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

Coach Jim McElwain ruled out McCalister (foot), Jordan Sherit (hamstring) and Joey Ivie (knee) against the Owls.

McCalister, the Southeastern Conference's defensive player of the week last week, injured his right foot in the first quarter at South Carolina and spent much of the game in a walking boot and on crutches. McElwain said X-rays were negative, but offered no timetable for his return.

Sherit also got hurt against the Gamecocks. Ivie has missed three of the last four games.
