Oregon State's new defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake could make big impact

Oregon State's new defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake needs to make an immediate impact for head coach Gary Andersen. With a freshman QB likely to start, the Beavers defense is likely going to have to be the strength of the team early in the season.

Athlon Sport's Steven Lassan thinks Sitake could be one of the most influential coordinator hires of the 2015 offseason:

"Gary Andersen inherited a rebuilding project at Oregon State, but future looks bright in Corvallis with the former Utah State and Wisconsin head coach leading the way. Andersen also hired an outstanding staff, including Sitake as the team’s defensive coordinator. The Hawaii native was hired away from Utah after spending 10 years with the Utes, including six as the play-caller on defense. In 2014, Utah ranked No. 4 in the Pac-12 in scoring defense."

The Beavers are clearly a work in progress this season. However, if the young defense is able to grasp Sitake's schemes quickly, the Beavers could be better than anticipated.
