At this rate, Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler might become the “King of the GIFs” this season.
In the bottom of the third inning Tuesday night, Kinsler’s chin met the business end of Oakland Athletics catcher John Jaso’s helmet.
Kinsler was safe on the play, but the collision caused a huge gash in his chin (H/T @DShep25).
Just how bad was the cut? One look at the face of Jurickson Profar as Kinsler returned to the dugout should tell you all you need to know.
Kinsler was able to stay in the game after receiving three stitches to stop the bleeding.
Kinsler’s bloody jersey will evoke fond memories of Rangers fans who remember, back in the early 1990s, when Nolan Ryan took a line drive to the face off the bat of Kansas City Royals outfielder Bo Jackson, only to stay in the game .. . busted lip, bloody jersey and all.
