ARLINGTON, Texas — The July 15 All-Star Game American League roster may have Yu Darvish’s name on it but that doesn’t mean he’ll be playing in the game.
If the Texas rotation holds form, Darvish would be slated to pitch July 13 against the Los Angeles Angels.
He has no desire to pitch an inning in Minnesota two days later.
"I think I’m going to go sight-seeing," Darvish joked through his interpreter.
Darvish has been selected for the last two All-Star games but hasn’t pitched in either. Two years ago he won the final fan vote and didn’t pitch. Last year he was selected for the squad but was on the disabled list.
A third-straight pick seems likely too. Darvish (7-4) in the top 10 in the AL in ERA, strikeouts and opponents’ batting average against.
