Mo Farah won the 5,000 meters on Saturday night at the Rio Games, becoming the first man in 40 years to win the 5K and 10K back-to-back at the Olympics.

A week after the British Farah won the 10,000 meters, he completed the double-double by running the 5000m in 13 minutes, 3.30 seconds.

Paul Chelimo of the United States finished second but was disqualified for stepping out of bonds, leaving Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia with the silver and Chelimo's teammate Bernard Lagat with the bronze.

The 41-year-old Lagat would have become the oldest athlete to medal at at track-and-field event at an Olympic Games.

Only, Chelimo has been reinstated after an appeal and did indeed earn his silver medal.

Gebrhiwet, in turn, earned bronze.
