Two days after his devastating knee injury, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater released his first statement since dislocating his knee and tearing his ACL in practice Tuesday.

Bridgewater thanked the Vikings organization and the fans for their well-wishes, adding that he will be with the team "in spirit" to help the organization accomplish its goals. He also displayed an unwavering belief that he will get back on the field, finishing with the message by saying, "My purpose will not be denied."

Here's Bridgewater's full statement:

This level of determination is an example of why Bridgewater is so popular on the team. Players were visibly distraught when he suffered the injury, and head coach Mike Zimmer also appeared to be shaken when he addressed the media Tuesday.

Bridgewater seemed primed for a breakout season with the Vikings having Super Bowl aspirations. He went 12 of 16 for 161 yards and a touchdown in two quarters against the Chargers in Sunday’s preseason game.

Now, Bridgewater's focus will be on rehabbing his left knee and returning to form for 2017. The organization expects him to make a full recovery, and with this message Thursday that goal appears to be well within reach.
