Trevor Siemian recreated Peyton Manning wearing his helmet in the cold tub

Published Dec. 9, 2016 12:54 p.m. ET

The Denver Broncos will be without starting quarterback Trevor Siemian (sprained left foot) when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, but Siemian's doing everything he can to get back as soon as possible.

In fact, the Broncos QB wants you to know that he's following in the footsteps of the great Peyton Manning — almost literally:

On the left, we have Manning in 2013, when the then-Broncos QB had to miss practice with an ankle injury. Rather than waste time, he wore his helmet to listen to the play calls and brought a tablet to watch video while icing his injured extremity.

"He heard the calls, he'd repeat them to Julius and they were kind of – it was a way for them to take two hours and stay in the game plan," explained [former Denver offensive coordinator and current Miami Dolphins coach Adam] Gase, who laughed that he couldn't believe the photo made it onto CBS' broadcast that week.

While things did work out in the long run for Manning and the Broncos, it's worth noting they lost their Week 15 game against the Chargers days after that photo went viral during the 2013 season.

Back here in 2016, Paxton Lynch will get the start for Denver in Siemian's place on Sunday. If Lynch suffers an unfortunate foot or ankle injury this week, we'll know where to find him at the next practice.
