Browns rookie QB Cody Kessler ruled out with concussion

This season was supposed to provide hope for the Cleveland Browns at quarterback. Robert Griffin III was brought in, Cody Kessler was drafted and Josh McCown is a reliable vet. However, it’s been a complete disaster due to a never-ending series of injuries.

On Sunday, the woes continued. Kessler was knocked out of the game in the third quarter with a possible concussion and was taken to the locker room to be evaluated. He would later be ruled out for the remainder of the contest, giving way to McCown as the quarterback.

Kessler was hurt following a hit by Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play. He was able to walk to the sideline on his own after the hit.

The rookie had been playing well this season, throwing six touchdown passes and just two interceptions including Sunday’s pick.
