Chargers Pro Bowl cornerback Jason Verrett will have season-ending surgery

San Diego Chargers Pro Bowl cornerback Jason Verrett told reporters Wednesday that he will have surgery to repair his partially torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

Verrett, who has one interception this year, finished last week's game against the Saints and didn't appear to be injured, San Diego head coach Mike McCoy said Wednesday.

The third-year cornerback had three interceptions and 42 tackles last season, when Verrett was named to his first Pro Bowl.

Verrett's injured is just the latest blow for the 1-3 Chargers, who have already lost wideout Stevie Johnson and running back Danny Woodhead.
