Bills WR Watkins unlikely to play vs. Cardinals
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is unlikely to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Bills coach Rex Ryan said Watkins' chances of playing are ''probably not real good'' Friday. Watkins did not practice all week.
Watkins has been hampered by foot soreness in recent weeks. He underwent foot surgery this offseason.
Ryan added that Watkins had his injured foot stepped on at a walkthrough practice earlier in the week, which ''probably didn't help.''
The news is a major blow for an offense looking to get back on track under new offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn. Lynn was promoted to the post after the Bills fired Greg Roman last Friday.
The Bills' woes on offense are a big reason for their 0-2 start. Through two games, Buffalo is 30th in offense (276.5 yards per game) and 29th in third-down conversion (6 of 23).
Watkins, Buffalo's No. 1 receiver, has gotten off to a slow start to the year with six receptions for 63 yards.
The Bills will also be without left tackle Cordy Glenn, who has yet to return to practice after suffering an ankle injury in Week 1. Tight end Charles Clay (knee), wide receiver Greg Salas (groin) and cornerback Ronald Darby (hamstring) are questionable.
