Bills WR Watkins ruled out against Buccaneers
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) Buffalo Bills rookie receiver Sammy Watkins has been ruled out of Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Watkins had been very limited in practice since bruising his ribs in a 19-16 loss at Pittsburgh last weekend. Defensive tackles Kyle Williams (leg) and Alan Branch were also listed as inactive.
Branch has spent most of training camp and preseason games playing with the third-string defense. The eighth-year NFL veteran is considered a candidate to be cut next week despite signing a three-year contract extension in December.
The Buccaneers sat out defensive end William Gholston and cornerback Mike Jenkins. Both were hurt in a 20-14 loss to Miami last weekend.
