Detroit RB Kevin Smith injures leg

Published Nov. 24, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

Lions running back Kevin Smith is hurt again.

Smith left Thursday's injury-filled game against Green Bay with what appeared to be a right ankle problem during the first half. Detroit also lost defensive backs Louis Delmas and Chris Houston to knee injuries, and defensive back Brandon McDonald was helped off the field in the third quarter.

Green Bay linebackers A.J. Hawk and Desmond Bishop left with calf injuries, and Packers offensive lineman Josh Sitton hurt a knee.

Smith rushed for 140 yards last weekend against Carolina, giving the Detroit running game a much-needed boost. He struggled the last two seasons because of knee and thumb injuries, and the Lions actually let him go during the offseason before bringing him back earlier this month.
