2017 NBA Draft Lottery: Results and 1st round order

The 2017 NBA Draft Lottery is complete and the Boston Celtics have earned the No. 1 overall pick. Here's the results from the lottery and the complete order for the first round of the draft.

The results of the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery are in, and thanks to Boston Celtics legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this season will also enjoy the No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Though the Brooklyn Nets' league-worst record of 20-60 ensured they had the best odds of securing the top pick in this year's draft, their 2013 trade with Boston for KG and The Truth allowed the Celtics the rights to swap first round picks in this year's draft.

As such, Brooklyn's 25 percent odds at the No. 1 overall pick now gives Boston the right to choose between Washington's Markell Fultz, UCLA's Lonzo Ball, Kansas' Josh Jackson or a blockbuster trade with the top selection in this year's draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a lot riding on the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery, with their first-rounder being owed to the Philadelphia 76ers if it fell outside of the top three spots. Luckily, a late-season five-game winning streak didn't condemn the Lakers to lose their 2017 first rounder (and their 2019 first-rounder by extension), since they landed at No. 2 in the draft lottery.

The Lakers will still owe Philadelphia their unprotected first round pick in 2018, but at least they get to retain this year's top-three selection and keep hopes of a Lonzo Ball-to-LA reunion alive.

The Sixers missed out on their chance to acquire two top-three picks, but still secured the No. 3 overall pick and will enjoy the Lakers' first round pick with no protections in next year's draft.

The Phoenix Suns, who had the second-worst record in the association this year, dropped all the way to No. 4 despite having the second-best odds at the No. 1 pick. They remain one of seven franchises to never earn the No. 1 overall selection in an NBA Draft.

The Sacramento Kings rounded out the top five, with the Orlando Magic dropping to No. 6 despite being the NBA's fifth-worst team.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, thanks to their tiebreaker over the New York Knicks, earned the seventh overall selection, falling from No. 6. The Knicks will go next at No. 8, dropping from No. 7. They will be followed by the Dallas Mavericks at No. 9.

Thanks to the DeMarcus Cousins trade, the Kings will be on the board again at No. 10, since the New Orleans Pelicans' protected pick did not fall within the top three. Landing the No. 5 spot also ensured the Kings did not have to send their pick to the Chicago Bulls, who would've received that selection if it fell outside of the top 10.

The Charlotte Hornets (No. 11), Detroit Pistons (No. 12), Denver Nuggets (No. 13) and Miami Heat (No. 14) rounded out the draft lottery.
