Aaron Nola - Nears CG against AtlantaNola (7-6) allowed one run on four hits and no walks while striking out nine in 8.2 innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Sunday.
ImpactNola came within one strike of tossing a complete game Sunday, but he gave up a solo homer to Austin Riley in the top of the ninth and was removed from the contest afterward. However, the right-hander still returned to the win column after Ranger Suarez recorded a strikeout to end the game. Nola has alternated wins and losses in his last four starts, and he's recorded a 5.84 ERA and 33:2 K:BB in 24.2 innings during that time. He tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Pittsburgh on Friday.

Drew Smyly - Knee checks out fineSmyly underwent tests Sunday that revealed no structural damage to his left knee, and he's expected to make his next turn through the rotation Thursday against the Mets, David O'Br...
ImpactSmyly was pulled after four shutout innings in Saturday's win over the Phillies with the left knee injury, but follow-up evaluations don't appear to have revealed anything overly concerning. The southpaw is scheduled to go through a workout Monday, and if all goes well, he should get the green light to take the hill Thursday without any restrictions.

Bryse Wilson - Spot start coming MondayAtlanta plans to call up Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader with the Mets, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
ImpactWilson will presumably be designated as Atlanta's 27th man for the twin bill, just as he was for last Wednesday's doubleheader with the Padres. He also started the second game of that doubleheader, working four innings in the outing while giving up five runs on eight hits and no walks. The depleted Atlanta pitching staff could surely use another capable arm, but Wilson still looks like he'll be the odd man out of the rotation when the team will be able to scale down to five starters following Monday's twin bill. He's submitted a 6.46 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across his seven starts in the majors in 2021.

Kyle Muller - Sticking in rotationMuller is scheduled to start the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Mets, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
ImpactAfter being called up from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Muller got the ball for the first game of a doubleheader with the Padres. He allowed only one run over four innings in the start, but he needed 87 pitches to record his 12 outs and was stuck with the loss. Muller's solid numbers overall through his first five big-league outings (3.20 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 23:11 K:BB in 19.2 innings) coupled with the depleted state of the Atlanta rotation means that the rookie should have some stability in a starting role for the remainder of the season.
