Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh plans to take advantage of Ruth's Chris steak special

As we all know by now, Michigan's victory over Rutgers this past Saturday was notable for two different reasons.

One was the score -- it's not often you see one team beat another 78-0.

The other was the backstory behind it -- a goofy promo at a Ruth's Chris Steak House in Ann Arbor, MI that seemed too good to be true. Last week, the restaurant announced that for every Wolverines victory, fans would be entitled to a special discount on their bill, Tuesday through Sunday. The amount of the discount would depend on the margin of Michigan's victory. So for example, if the Wolverines won by 14 points, fans got 14 percent off.

Awesome, right?

So when Michigan won by 78 points on Saturday, it sent fans into a frenzy. Even with the discount capped at 50 percent, it's still a pretty sweet deal -- so sweet that Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said he plans to take advantage of the deal himself.

Harbaugh said on his radio show Monday that he would be indulging in the deal thanks to a connection at the restaurant, which he said is totally booked with reservations for the week.

“My wife Sarah and I are going to Ruth’s Chris this week," — I want to thank Buzz Goebel (the general manager of the restaurant) for getting us in, because it’s all sold out,” Harbaugh said Monday.

Harbaugh found out about the promotion Sunday after Michigan returned from New Jersey.

“It tickled me,” Harbaugh said.

Even considering the absurd standards of Harbaugh's lifestyle, this is pretty awesome. After all, there are plenty of ways to celebrate a big win and grabbing a nice steak dinner sounds like one of them. It's that much sweeter when that steak -- and everything that comes with it -- is 50 percent off.

As Harbaugh is quite fond of saying: "Who's got it better than us?" The answer is no one, if you live in Ann Arbor.
