Valenti, Robertson lead Canisius past Manhattan, 78-64 (Jan 28, 2017)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Phil Valenti and Kassius Robertson combined to score 40 points to help power Canisius past Manhattan, 78-64 to snap a three-game losing skid in a Saturday afternoon Metro Atlantic battle.

Jermaine Crumpton knocked down a 3-pointer with just under a minute left in the first half to give the Golden Griffins a 12-point advantage. Tyler Wilson hit a pair of free throws for Manhattan to cut the lead at intermission to just 10 points.

The Jaspers knocked their deficit to single digits to start the second half, but Malik Johnson hit a 3-pointer with 12:56 left to push it back to double digits.

Valenti finished with 22 points and Robertson added another 18 for Canisius (13-9, 6-5). Crumpton finished with 16 points.

Na'Quan Council went 7-for-7 from the free throw line and scored 14 points off the Manhattan bench to lead the Jaspers (8-15, 3-9).
